Should truckers have expanded CCW rights?

  1. Yes, due to nature of OTR work a trucker should be allowed protection.

  2. No, there is no need for a trucker to be able to defend themselves.

Black people slaughtering each other in Chicago...it's not news, it's an every day occurrence, right? But a white cop kills a black guy, S-U-D-D-E-N-L-Y Black Lives Matter. And guys like Sharpton fly in, get everyone all worked up and convince them to do what? Destroy their own neighborhood. It's the exact same thing. 60 black guys get gunned down in Chicago, and it's cool. Nobody is upset. White cop, it's racism and black lives matter and you can get black people from every metro area to destroy their own neighborhoods.

That's some serious mind control there.

Could you point to a Federal gun trafficking law?

How many of the last 20 years has the ATF had a confirmed director?

What is the size of the ATF compared to 40 years ago? How does that compare to other law enforcement agencies?

The long and the short of it is that there is little will to enforce the rules on the books. For the shop in Indiana it took almost two decades to get their license revoked. There has been a lot of talk on various threads about how "we need to punish criminals" and "there needs to be serious consequences for breaking the law" in regards to the BLM protests, yet when we start talking about gun dealers breaking the law those same people advocating for "law and order" are strangely silent. Total money recovered in wage theft convictions is greater than the combined value of all other property theft, where is the hue and cry of "lock them up"?

It looks like the thread added a survey that can be answered one way only....LOL

While I do believe that truckers should be allowed to defend themselves I don't believe that all of them should be allowed to carry firearms in their vehicles. For over 18 years, I have seen too many unstable individuals. Some were showing frenzy outbursts of anger. One of them even lunched a physical attack at me with a crow bar...I don't want to sound too heroic now by saying that I was able to fend off the attack but what if he had a gun...? Not that I would have wanted to shut the lunatic dead either.

So, for this to be any serious proposition, the very CDL should never be a FOID substitute. However, once an individual is a valid FOID holder or even better conceal carry licensed then CDL could allow reciprocity in all the jurisdictions traveled. That's so unreal though.

He reminds me of my former chief of police.
I stated in another thread, the policy at the PD comes from high up. Ronald Watts had someone's "blessing" in order to pull off that crap for so long. He got caught, he's going down, but the main culprit is still at large. So, in other words, I doubt anything changes.

    And that is the problem.

Sure Watts went to jail, but his former officers are still on the job. The prosecutors who obtained convictions KNOWING they were acting on bad information still have their law licenses.

You said "But a white cop kills a black guy, S-U-D-D-E-N-L-Y Black Lives Matter." It's not suddenly, it's people are finally paying attention. For every George Floyd there are 3 dozen Ben Bakers. You once referenced the movie Deliverance and how the guy acquiesced in his own rape when he willingly took off his pants under the belief "it's better to be raped then dead". You argued that he should have done whatever necessary to not acquiesce - that's what's happening now. Black people are tired of acquiescing to their own rape. They are tired of being arrested for petty crimes that if you or I committed wouldn't make a cop put down his doughnut. They are tired of having people like my cousin David steal their money and face no real repercussions. They are tired of good cops not standing up to bad cops. As a country we have decided to give up our freedoms for "law and order" and we are now paying the price - no knock warrants, qualified immunity, civil forfeiture - these are all tools that were given to the police to "fight crime" but were overwhelmingly used against the black community and to a lessor extent poor people of every color. When they complained about police abuse, we responded with "if you hadn't done something wrong, you wouldn't be dealing with the police".

Being 65 and blessed to have seen all people have the opportunity to prosper in this great country, I am puzzled at the young people who seem unaware of the inheritance they are gleefully wanting to give away.
