Law enforcement are being PC about it and that is why she was charged. They are afraid of riots and looters and protesters.

Some if you are generalizing old people. You seem to think they all need to be at their children’s home. At the present time they still exists many old people who were brought up with a work ethic. They are only doing what they know to do. More people should be like them. It would solve some of this country’s problems. Who are you to take away their right to work? Maybe they need the money to survive because they cant make it on the pittance of SSI they get. Some of you people need to pull your heads out from where the sun doesn’t shine.
Walmart in Tifton GA had a man in his 90s working in the pharmacy. He came to work neatly dressed and always wearing a stylish cap. His wife had passed and he sold his pharmacy. He was bored at home and wanted something to do. He did NOT make mistakes either. You people sound like he should be sitting in his children’s home rotting away.

@AModelCat said it. Not everyone has children. I don’t. Can I come to your house and will you take care of me? According to you I’m not supposed to be a contributing member of society.

There may be some truth in what you say, except that she really was not in the right. You do NOT shoot someone in the back while they are running away with some stupid booze bottles. Why is this so hard to understand? I get it that she is old, but everyone is acting like she is a saint. Bs. She messed up too. Why can’t we analyze the situation without considering their age, gender, or color of skin? Isn’t this what they tell the jury? I hope so.

And for the one thousandth time, yes, the laws should also fall over the thieves. Everyone gets what they deserve in accordance with the law.

The fact you don't think she wasn't a victim is why she finally had to take take matters into her own hands. Remember, she didn't do this the first time she was robbed. She did it because the cops weren't doing their jobs.
As for the laughable notion of banning said person as an option.. Well, it's laughable. As someone who ran a retail computer store I can give you numerous examples of someone coming in and stealing and never showing up again. I.E. then self ban.

No court ruling. The cops simply charged. Heck there is no news article of even a grand jury yet, much less a trial. My 100% guess is after the news dies down they will quietly drop the charges. In today's BLM climate they had to charge her or fear those criminals you adore would start riots and looting.

Your right, can't shoot somebody for shoplifting. If he would have come after her she would then be lawful but I believe she still would have been unlawfully charged. People are just sick and tired of criminals getting off easy.

Sure, not all elderly people need to be taken care of, but come on. She is 88 years old and had a gun in her possession and presumably without any gun experience. Even she acknowledged that she might not make it in two years from now.

Elderly people can still work preferably without a gun and in a safe environment, but that just common sense, right? Apparently some want grandpa to be out there trucking at 88 years old or working as a security guard with all sorts of weapons like Rambo. What can go wrong?

    I already addressed that:

If you have a video camera, you can prove that you were defending yourself from thieves who were intending to harm you. I don’t see why she would be in the wrong in that case. The video will speak for itself.

Store owners also need to be well versed in the laws of their state or county to know what they can legally do.

I don’t think they are getting off easy. “Assuming” you are implying black people, then that would be incorrect as the stats already show that black people have high percentages of incarcerations compared to other racial groups. So one cannot say they are getting off easy because evidently they are not. (Yes, just an “assumption” of who you were implying.)
