I recently purchased a CH613 Pinnacle. I have three questions. First is the large, single muffler with lines and electrical lines running to it. I assume this is a muffler and some type of pollution device also. What type of maintenance does this system require? Is there a way to remove this one large muffler and replace it with a regular muffler? The second question concerns the clutch. It is hard to push it down. When truck builds up air it is somewhat easier but still not easy to push. Is there something one might do to make the clutch work smoother? Last question concerns the tilt steering wheel. The wheel is all the way down and will not stay in a higher position. What needs to be done to repair this problem?

Thats a DPF unit not a muffler and no it cant be legally removed. Sounds like you have an air assisted clutch but what are you comparing it to so stiffness?

Thanks for your reply. Is there a section of the DPF that is replaceable? I assume it is working okay right now. No codes on speedometer. On the clutch, when engine first started the clutch petal is very hard to press. As air builds it gets easier but still hard to press. Is there an adjustment or possibly seals that might need replacing? What about the tilt steering wheel not holding? It stays in the lowest position.

Yes the DPF filter is serviceable with new DPF filter parts but not removable to make the truck louder.

As for the stiff clutch are you comparing the stiffness to another truck or a car?

Im not familiar with Mack’s so no help with the steering column.

I was not thinking on removing the DPF filter to make it louder. Would put stock muffler on it. Just thought it would make things much simpler and probably better performance and mileage. Plus cost. I would guess it costs around $2000.00 to service the DPF.
Clutch just seems pretty hard to push. Comparing to old Peterbilt we used to have. I am going to get under there and see what all is involved.
Steering wheel should not be too bad. Looks like there is a plastic cowling that can be removed to see what problem is.
