Taking a sec out my week to help drivers who might be considering Walmart dedicated for U.S Express. Been here for about a couple of months so I thought I would talk about the account.

The ads you see from the company and recruiters saying you can make $1000-$1200 a week are not lying to you. In fact, you can make $1300-$1400 a week.

But before we dive into the pay-scale let’s digest the concerns I want you to be aware about.

This account allows drivers to do what I call work whatever days you want. That’s right you work six days out the week. Or as the terminal boss Ms. Laura would say, slave work boy! Out of those six days you can pick whenever you come in either in the AM or PM.

2300-0300 if you’re a new driver guarantee’s you a load every day you come in if you’re new. Forget about working mornings as those good 300+ mile loads are reserved for veterans who have been with the company for a while or the account. You will hardly ever get morning runs if new to the account. Set my arrival for mornings countless times only to never get a load and always be put on night shift.

I work 0100 Wednesday-Friday and 0100-Sunday thru Monday. 10-13 hours each day. Two loads a day. I get two days off a week and I’m home everyday. I make between $1150-$1280 a week. I can make $1300-1400 if I work that sixth day but I opt not to.

So you want to make what I’m making which is the max for the account? You won’t if you come here. This account allows drivers to take 24 hours off after working a single shift. Let me explain. Say you work a load that takes six hours to complete and you’re done and ready to leave home at 9AM in the morning.

You can set your mandatory sheet to come back 24 hours later. Or anywhere in that 24 hour period. What this does is make drivers lazy at the terminal. Everyone knows trucking is a 55-70 hour work week and this account allows drivers to take multiple days off by setting a 24 hour period to come back.

I attempted to run the lazy mans game only to find out the office staff will ruin your check by not updating your Arrival sheet when you set it to come back. Or Walmart employee’s holding you up and wasting your entire 14 hour clock.

Not to mention when the trucks have issues or you have to deal with drivers not fueling the trucks or Def. Or even the reefers with no discipline!

So the lazy mans game will get you no where on this account. You could run Tuesday 2300-1100 and after take 24 hours off or less. You could then come in Wednesday and work one load for five hours and take Thursday off for 18 hours or 24 hours again. Do you see the problem yet?

By allowing drivers to do this they get lazy and this is why so many U.S express drivers report from Walmart they don’t make even a $1000 a week on the account.

So I learned in my third week in order to make a $1000 I would have to work a full five days, two loads each day.

Before when I was taking 24 hours off I generated 6-7 loads a week. I make $900 gross a week.

So after changing it up I started running 0100-1400 Wednesday-Friday and 0100-1400 Sunday-Monday with two days off a week. I literally get off and go home and stay up for three hours before coming right back to work again.

Well, Now I make $1150-$1280 a week gross. If I came in that sixth day I would be making $1300-$1400 a week gross. The simple answer to making income on this account is you have to work hard and stay ahead on time with completing loads.

You can not be lazy and decline loads like all the drivers you see here. You have to basically work it like OTR. Drive, sleep, eat, drive, until your days off.

Also the terminal manager Ms. Laura will expect you to work six days a week every week unless you run like me. She does not bother me anymore because I do 10 loads a week which is basically like working six days in the span of five days.

You will be frustrated with the trucks being damaged and no reports so you’ll have to drive to the mechanics and have them document the damage. Waste of time. You will be mad at having to fuel trucks that another driver did not fuel before you. You will be upset on this account if you’re someone who wants to be home on the weekends. Not happening!

You will be upset if you’re lazy and don’t like working 10-13 hours a day.

You will not be paid for Walmart employee’s wasting your time. Like not opening the door when you arrive on time for the delivery. You could be there for up to maybe two hours and not instead of a 11 hour day say hello to a 14 hour day!

Mostly the trucks have issues but perform and get the job done. Trailers are in good condition a majority of the time. Mechanics really help you when you need to fix an issue with the truck. No vacation time on this account.

Don’t forget to ask about a sign on bonus. You can get one trust me. If a Walmart driver shows up after you back into a dock they can force you to move! They can also take empties from you. Some of them are bullies!

Overall, I only like the account because I work my ### off and make more money than I’ve ever made in my life. For me $1150-$1280 a week is solid. Any questions ask and I’ll answer.

So, you actually 'compete' with WMPF guys? << those guys have tried to recruit me numerous times; too 'strict' for my liking, tbh. I make as much (or more sometimes) as they do... i'm good. Interesting read, however.

A good friend of mine left Prime flatbed to go with WMPF and....at times, wishes he hadn't but for the paycheck. A bit better hometime, a lot more pay, a lot less 'freedom' to just 'BE' .. he says.

I drove for USX myself, in the day. No DC's, nothing dedicated. Was a decent place back then, IMHO.

Glad you found your niche' ~ I've sure got mine. Just interesting to read, TBH. Thanks, guys!

What do you do with the papers they give you about the load, before you start running. When you get done at the end of the day after dropping the trailer at the dc, do u turn it in from where u got it or just keep it after scanning??

    truckdriver31 Thanks this.
