When I drove for swift back in 2012, it was like stop at such and such fuel stop, fuel approximately 50 gal. They did assign the fuel route then, with the dispatch. I can't speak on anything since then, though. It wasn't always big name truck stops either. Plenty of little truck stops run by mom and pop.

Well I've been with Swift since 2010 and it has never been mom and pop places.
Sometimes 50-60 gallons in certain places that are more expensive.

Nearly always Love's, Petro, TA, Pilot and J - unless I am way out in the boonies somewhere.

Things are not going well with my recruiter. Every time I talk to him he tells me:
    • I'm going to send you some orientation work to do online, you should get that any time.
    • You'll have a one day physical orientation. It should be on X or XX.
    • I'll call you tomorrow morning with an update and to confirm which of those two days it is.
Thus far he's never made good on any of those things. Each time he says that he doesn't call me back. I call him at the end of the day on which he was supposed to call me in the morning. He tells me I'll get that orientation stuff to do any time (I never did). He also pushes my orientation day out and then promises to call me the following morning, but never does.

Swift might turn out to be okay, but the recruiter experience is pretty bad so far. I haven't even started orientation and I already know that I can't believe a word my recruiter says. Not the best start.

This sounds like it could be an interesting journey. What were your options, as far as carriers in your area? I live in the Tampa area so I will be following your experiences.

That sucks of him. There is a reason for the delay and he is choosing to play you instead of level and tell you what is up. It could be something insignificant with internal scheduling or some other minor thing, but he doesn’t have the decency to be honest. A natural sales scum.

If i could offer u any advice as having worked for swift myself.. U have to be really really patient with them... they have a #### ton of drivers to look after and even more when it comes to recruiting.. Just give them a call and leave a message and they will work everything out .

I did the same thing ... lived in the truck and saved up a pile of cash and now have zero debt of any kind and lots of bank account. I can’t tell you how much better life is when you really have nothing to worry about $ wise. If things go well I keep banking cash if things fall apart I go on vacation and enjoy life. When I was OTR I always found time to vacation in Las Vegas , Reno , Laughlin , San Diego , Palm Springs etc etc. trucking is fun when you don’t have to do it. You should have checked out JR Schugel. I would take home average $1,500 a week with them , twice as much as Swift. But Swift is ok as long as you remember it’s Swift so don’t get your hopes up it’s just Swift lol best of luck to you sir !!!

So very true ... I was expecting a phone call from them when I was out on an injured back. I did not go home when it happened. I was about 100 miles away from a beautiful coastal resort town so I bobtailed there with the black box for logs disconnected. Stayed there for a week enjoying the town and I never heard from them. I can tell you so many stories like that ....
