Stan's Inc., Alpena, SD

Made it to Blackwell, AR. Should be in Golden by Saturday morning. The delivery and pick up in Memphis went smoothly. Even scaled out on my first weigh that's always nice. This load makes a bad week a decent one now. Time for bed got a long drive shift tomorrow.

 

659 mile day. Feels good to have a long drive day. Made it over to Oakley,KS. One of my favorite TAs is here. Don't get to stop that often. Got to be in Golden by 8. Then I pick up on Sunday in Ft Collins going back to South Dakota.

I've missed South Dakota this past week being away. The state is growing on me. Might move there in the future.

 

Delivery went quick in Golden. Got out 26 minutes after my appointment. Was pleasantly surprised. Waiting at the Love's in Berthoud. Pick up at Ft Collins tomorrow. Hope they don't take long but they usually do.

Do they have any other freight? I would hate to think my job depended on people's willingness to buy expensive beef jerky.

 

The shear amount of beef jerky being sold is crazy when you consider two little distribution centers are sending it all over this country and Canada. Production numbers had been higher than ever this year and the freight was good. Once covid hit and an outbreak happened at the factory it slowed down.

We only haul Jack Links loads from Alpena to the DC in Lauren's,IA or Underwood,IA. That's our Jack Links circle. What I like to call it anyways. We haul a lot of freight it's just that most of it pertains towards Jack Links.

I like it this way because I am not a big fan of "exploring", I like to go to the same places and run the same routes. Consistency and predictability make this job enjoyable for me anyways. There is enough variety for me as well.

 

Got loaded quick in Ft Collins. That's rare. Still on the edge of being able to make this delivery on time. Shut down in Grand Island, NE. Get to run back roads all morning. Fun fun.

 

Made the delivery on time. Rolled over to Alpena for a reset. Could really use one after 14 days of recapping. I don't mind recapping bit I rather run my clock out and reset. Either way glad to get a little downtime for laundry and groceries.

 

Does Stan's have any dedicated runs up to Canada?

 

We don't run up to Canada. Stan's is a small company. Our only dedicated run so to speak would be the guys that only go to Underwood, IA and Lauren's, IA. Even then only 3 are home every day.
