Rates are crazy hot right now in the west. Just got home from a 2 day, 1,300 mile round trip that grossed $3.89 all miles. Thursday I pick up a load paying over $4 per mile on 990 miles, but I bring it home for the weekend and deliver on Tuesday. I can live with that. If history is any indication, rates will be dropping next week. Hope I'm wrong. This new broker I'm working with is coming through with some great rates. He's looking for more O/O's out west to increase capacity, but I don't really know any in my area. Nice seeing brokers entering the business that are actually more interested in building relationships than making a quick buck.

The best part about COVID and everyone staying home was that it was fairly cheap to travel. I was off two months for a remodeling project, and when that was going smoother than expected I left the contractor to do what needed done. Gas was cheap, hotels were cheap, Airbnb’s were cheap. I spent two weeks at an Airbnb in the hills of Ohio just relaxing by the pond and living on takeout food. Now that everyone is out and about the hotels have gotten their prices back up to normal though.

Monday afternoon booked 600 miles OH-NC for $2000, load was not ready and I returned home. Tuesday afternoon booked 1200 miles to FL for $4200, then when I was on the way to my yard, broker said that customer cancelled the load (don't believe that, but whatever).
Looks like like I am just gonna stay home for the week and enjoy the weatherBrettj3876, Scooter Jones and clausland Thank this. -

Well global came crawling back to us. Now it's 750 instead of 700. Who woulda thought 575 doesn't get you the quality of service the customer is used to. The kids 1st mistake was telling us he found someone way cheaper.
They've called like half a dozen or so times over the last week. The guy that runs the dock ended up calling us asking where the hell have we been. He's all about giving work to the locals around here.brank, Truckermania, Dino soar and 6 others Thank this. -
