So if your service brakes are squeaking and you take it to the mechanic that your company has for these things and they still squeak.. what gives?

Brakes? You mean the coward pedal?

Because trucking is one of those, that's always the way we've done it industries instead of phasing out drum brakes like a civilized society they just hardened the shoes to meet the new stopping distance. Some squeak is normal, constant squealing isn't

If it works, why fix it? I am not against disc brakes. But it sure wouldn't be a deal breaker. Drums have stopped the truck and I for 46 years. I like brakes that go 200k to 250k without costing me $$. I am a cheapo. Oh, and I don't like the ABS brake system either. Just FYI.

I like my disc brakes more than I did drums, the look on an officer trying to find the pushrod is fun too.

It’s probably just from the bottom shoe anchors. Most don’t bother to change them, or the bushings that come in a brake kit. Instead of turning when brakes are applied, they stay rusted in place. No big deal, as long as shoes are good.
