Well. Yard move is not actually legal. Yard move was created for eld's as a way to log, well, yard moves. The problem is the definition of drive time never changed. Technically it's still "All time at the driving controls of a cmv in operation"
The intent is obvious, and if any leo and ada push hard on a driver that did use yard move, it's likely their efforts will fail yes, but that doesn't help the driver that has to fight it.

A Yard Move is a manual driver event used to track in-yard driving time. Time is recorded against a driver’s On-Duty clock, but not Driving Time.

Yard move is legal. It just eliminates the going from onnduty and driving when getting loaded or unloaded, the speed is limited, as is distance

Yard moves allow you to save your precious 11 hour drive time while at the shipping/reciving yards and when utilized can make a difference when you have a lot of miles to drive. Haven't gotten any citations for it yet.

    MTN Boomer Thanks this.

C"between the driver’s terminal and his or her residence"

So if I finish my shift, I can drive my truck home and back to the terminal? Or is that at the discretion of the company?

It's at your companies discretion, but it's legal. The question for most is how far are you pc'ing, my company has a 1 hour allowance per day.

Driving it home is fine. Driving to the terminal isn't.

Examples of Appropriate Uses of a CMV While Off-duty for Personal Conveyance
Commuting between the driver’s terminal and his or her residence, between trailer-drop lots and the driver’s residence, and between work sites and his or her residence.

Examples of Uses of a CMV that Would Not Qualify as Personal Conveyance
Time spent traveling to a motor carrier’s terminal after loading or unloading from a shipper or a receiver.
