My DOT experience is shot since in my 11 months I’ve been to 4 different CDL companies locally and regional including the one I’m at now twice.
Schneider(Quit cause checks messed up)
Werner(####TY dollar tree lol)
Gardner(currently here 2nd time)
Clean Harbors(lay-off Covid)
I’ve been getting declined like crazy from companies like TMC, Schneider, US Express.
I have NO moving violations, tickets, preventable accidents or anything.
I’m sticking out at Gardner to solidify 1 more year but a position for Estes popped up and I gave in.
Will me not having 1 month from 12 make them pass up on me ? I’m in Houston by the way.
I have 11 months. Estes is hiring, kinda hesitant.

Estes will likely pass with your average 2.75 month per carrier history, and it will be compounded by not meeting their 12 month requirement.
Doesn’t hurt to try.Bob Dobalina, LtlAnonymous, Hatt91 and 5 others Thank this. -
I figured so, I wish I knew about LTL companies when I first got my CDL. Putting in another year will be dreadful.

While I understand the reasons that you left your prior jobs. What I would like you to consider is this. No one I have ever known of gets their dream job right out of school. You have to put your dues in, you take the crapy jobs and the crapy runs until you get experience. So my advice is unless a good job comes along and is willing to take you with your current experience. Suck it up stay where you're at it you get enough experience to move to a better companyLast edited: Jul 2, 2020

Job hopping is a big no-no. Couple of times is ok, but 4 times in less than 11 mos. is disaster.
Clean Harbors was a good choice, but COVID-19 was the problem there.
Most students in CDL school let the school pick a job for them. The schools make it easy for their job placement by pushing 3 or 4 companies that are desperate for drivers.LtlAnonymous, Bakari742 and Selva Thank this. -
what's the worst they can say to you..??
good luckLtlAnonymous, jmz and QotisFiya Thank this. -
Your only problem can occur if Estes contacts Gardner verifying your employment. If in the end Estes hires you, no problem. If they don't hire you, you might get the stank eye from Gardner.
Sometimes companies upon your request will not contact your current employer until it is pretty much a done deal. You might be lucky.LtlAnonymous and QotisFiya Thank this. -
Your best bet for now is probably a temp service. This way, you can change companies as many times as you want, but your job resume will only show the temp agency because the temp agency writes your checks.
I worked for one in the past and it's a good deal for the driver.

@QotisFiya wheres your location?
McUzi Thanks this. -
3 months is honestly about the average a new driver stays at a company. 4 jobs in one year isn't rare but you really got to turn that second year around . It's a part of learning who's friend and who's foe
