The 777 is the de facto replacement.

I'm waiting for a hypersonic plane that can do L.A. to Sydney in an hour. Otherwise, I probably won't be flying again anytime soon.

    Rideandrepair and Snailexpress Thank this.

DC10, or 727, all I’ve ever flown on. Maybe a 747 someday. I’m sure they’ll still be around for another 20 yrs.

The only 4 engined jet I’ve flown on was a McDonnell Douglas DC-8 Super 71,back when United had them. Every other jet has had 2 or 3 engines.

Delta is retiring it whole fleet of 777s at the end of 2020.
I think that the a320 Neo is gaining some serious traction , I've done some work for The Boeing Company , some of the nicest and smartest people I've ever had the pleasure to work with.
My old saying always was , good thing there on America's side.

    mjd4277 and Doealex Thank this.

They probably will be. The DC-3 was introduced in 1936 and there are still a lot of them flying and earning their keep..

    mjd4277 Thanks this.
