Afternoon and thanks for any help here.

This year I bought a Ram 5500 and have been doing long hauls for a carrier. The money is pretty good when I'm moving but I've had A LOT of issues with the trailer they've leased me which has costed a lot of my time, and built some tension and unprofessional-ism from their part and have made it extremely frustrating and miserable.
Ideally I was going to look for something more local/regional at the end of the year but with all the issues it might be a good time to make a change. Aside from all the issues with the current carrier, I want to be home more, at least several nights a week, so something local or regional seems a better fit.
I'm based in Salt Lake City and haven't had any luck finding a company, all of them seem to be looking for semi's. I'm not quite financially ready to be able to make a transition to a bigger truck.
Anybody able to point me in the right direction or have any reccomendations?

I've thought about that, but how is that going to help me find something local or regional? I haven't found anything so far that would work even if I had my own trailer.

That's in the cards for the future but for now I'm seeking advice in finding a local or regional company to work with.

A new trailer is in your cards anyway you go. Do they have their own freight? Do they have long term relationships with brokers? How long have they been in business? Lastly what kind of freight do they have?

    24kHotshot and rccarlson22 Thank this.

Finding a local gig isn't hard, I started out hauling for company and made contacts and saw what could be done better Bought a hyd dove tail to move equipment and started part time for first yr. 3rd yr now just bought another hyd dove trailer and another truck for me and wife drives the older setup part time when I can't keep up
I don't run every day but all I need is a couple grand a week and I'm happy
Another thing is stay out of debt as best as you can.

mfinch68 and Lite bug Thank this.

Ok, so I buy my own trailer. I've been looking into doing that and I should have the means to do so in the very near future.
Then what? I haven't had any success so far finding local opportunities, everything seems to want a semi. Not in that position yet.
If you were me where would you search? What else would you do?

    Lite bug Thanks this.
