I drive a 2015 Freightliner M102 with 157,xxx miles. I believe it has a Cummins ISC in it. Maybe ISL ? Not sure...
Anyways, It's using about a Gallon of oil per month. I out on about 2-3,000 miles/month.
Is this normal oil consumption rate for the miles ? When does oil consumption become a concern ?

I ask only because I made a silly mistake when I 1st got my tractor. About the half full mark on the stick, I'd add half a gallon to bring her up to full. Doing this she'd drink 2.5-3 gallon between PM's. Little did I know, it was just settling to her happy spot..
As soon as someone said stop doing that, add a whole gallon at the low mark. That was the end of that. It now settles about 2-2.5 quarts low on the stick in the 1st 1500miles or so, & stays there the next 8500-9500miles till its PM time.
Just a thought..baha, BoxCarKidd, spsauerland and 1 other person Thank this. -
If it’s only a gal per month, I would not be overly concerned.
If there are no visible leaks, keep rolling.
Just for giggles, at your next oil change, try a different brand. You may be suprised. -
Oil consumption becomes a concern when rebuilding the engine seems easier then topping it up all the time.
