    Hello,
I am looking for some information on DM jobs. I know this is a trucker forum, I am just hoping to gain some insight and I don't know where else to look. I am currently a 911 Dispatcher, great job stability, but I am over the high stressors of the job. I have been doing it 10 years and just looking to branch into something new. Does anyone have any insight to the pay for the job? Is it high turnover? Are there any companies where DMs really work for the truckers, like they are supposed to? Thank you for any helpful info.

You will still have the stress … big time. You will dispatch 30 -45 drivers. 90% will be digital. the other 10 % will be landline, because they need to be babysitted. They will call with the dumbest questions, or just want to talk. YOUR superiors will be on you also. Can you say "multitask" ? I would say the biggest headache in trucking is having a truck driver call in whose under a load that has to be there "yesterday" and guess what ? He just ran out of hours or his truck broke down. Now you (the dispatcher) have to find another truck pronto to switch loads.

Far as I’m concerned the ones that need to be babysat should be shown the door.

I've overheard many phone calls over the years from driver to dispatch. And wondered how a driver could be so stupid that he needs to call in and can't figure it out on his own.
