Mr. Freymiller also tells that a large portion of his business revolved around hauling produce from California to the rest of the country. But he regret his decision to move to California because worker's compensation.
The book that doesn't say exactly what year Freymiller moved to Oklahoma but from what I have read I presume it was early 90's.
Don Freymiller told that the first reason to move to Oklahoma City was geography. He also told: "Oklahoma sits in the center of the country and it is almost the same distance to New York City as it is to Los Angeles. Oklahoma is in the Central Time Zone. If we moved to Oklahoma, there would never be more than a two-hour time diffrence between us and our drivers, regardless of where they were. In California, we were three hours behind the Eastern Time Zone, and some of our employees had to be at work at 5:00 a.m. to deal with customers and drivers in the Eastern Time Zone. It's hard to recruit people when their shifts start so early, and moving Oklahoma solved that. Oklahoma has a great highway system, and a few places give us the accessbility we have there. I-40 runs from the west coast to the east, I-35 runs north and south, while I-44 connects with all the highways that run to the northeast corridor of the country. We have the ability to easily ship product to any place in the country, and moving to Oklahoma meant we could close the terminals we were operating in places like Iowa, Arizona, and Ohio. The only brick and mortar we own today is in Oklahoma City. The highways here act as a hub and spokes, and we feed our trucks through this central location."CatchUp, nredfor88, Jarhed1964 and 3 others Thank this. -

F-ers offered me a job the day after I accepted with Melton. After a six week delay in orientation because of CCP virus, Melton re-pulled my background. A Cypress termination popped up on my DAC (lying F-ers). Melton dropped me like a fat, six-beer broad after a college cotillion.
Went back to Freymiller. They said the previous offer was a mistake as I am out of their hiring area.CatchUp, Jarhed1964, Elg1968 and 1 other person Thank this. -
