That’s interesting, I never knew that. Didn’t really start paying attention till mid 90s, when I decided to buy a Truck. Before then, I couldn’t tell one engine from the other. Biggest news was the new electronic engines. Purest hated them. Mechanical or nothing!! Lol. How times have changed. Series 60 was commonly called a throw away engine. Even though bearings were lasting twice as long as the competitions. It’s hard to believe how popular 12.7s are now, while 425b just faded away, in the reputation arena. But a mechanical 425 Cat would out pull a 500 Detroit, all day long.

I’m not sure that the Detroit was the standard option. I believe the CAT mechanical 3406 was the standard
I could be wrong but either way I would take the CAT over the Detroit all day long.
I have an 07, not one of the Leagcy series with Cummins.

    I drive 2014 Cascadia , DD15 10 Speed .
I wanted a modern and comfy truck with an Apu . This truck has had a Apu its entire life and has been reliable.
I'm a O/O under my own Authority, I run off of the boards (Jb, Landstar , ChR, Uber ) I run mostly Texas and out West . Pull a Box and benn doing so for 4 years . Owned multiple businesses and decided I didn't want to manage employees no more . Hope that helps

That whole managing employees thing can be difficult.
You might be a great driver and great at managing your time but that doesn’t necessarily translate into being a great driver manager.

I'm just a lowly wrench spinner but I have a W900A KW I'm rebuilding. I've always thought they were hands down the best looking truck ever built. My truck came up in a local classified ad. Dirt cheap and beat into the dirt as well. She's been slowly coming back to life over the last 6 years.

I thought it was 10 speed standard but it was a 9 speed.

Three things that stand out on this option sheet are the low airleaf rear. 1)They didn't become popular until 10 years ago on the 389. 2) They still offered an Aluminum frame option. 3) And two sticks were still available and No Autos.

I never heard that about the 60 series. Even the old Detroit s were rebuilt. A 3208 Cat was a throwaway

What year was that? Guessing by the lack of 46k rears and 3406, Series 60 and N14 engine options we're looking at '91 to '95ish?
