Let's assume that you have decided that you want to go O/O, and you have the financing secured, whether you have a lender giving you a pre-approved loan with terms acceptable to you, you won the lottery/at the casino, inherited some money from a rich uncle who had nobody else.......
Now let's say that you have done your due diligence and configured new trucks to meet the needs of the freight you (intend to) haul and your personal needs as far as options go. Let's also say you like the available colors (or can get custom colors for no charge if you are willing to wait). Any differences in cost are negligible or at least acceptable.
If you have a carrier you want to sign on(or continue) with, giving you a relationship that is favorable to you, do you go to them and see if they can get a better price on your final choice?
What brand do you choose and why? Listed in no particular order, just based on what I see from my window:

volvos have high levels of emf pollution enter the cabs. not sure if they used the lining that keeps it from entering the cab, all i know is i tested it, and high levels of emf pollution enter the cabs. i remember testing freightliner in comparision and freightliner had much better levels of emf pollution.
it's just a factor you may not of thought of. i know many more factors than that exist. if you don't believe me test them for yourself. get an emf tester, go to the place that sells trucks, turn the truck on, turn on your emf tester, turn truck on and off, move the tester around the cab. i notice it's much higher levels on the floor board compared to the ceiling.
some people think i'm crazy for even considering that as a factor with people who i talked to in real life about it. to me i don't care too much, i still drive volvos. just sharing a thing i don't think many people have thought about.Last edited: Jul 13, 2020

Can't vote, can't help. The question has way too many variables. Example: I drive a Volvo and like my Volvo but I have access to a reputable dealer and a few guys that have been there 30 or more years. I have their cell phone numbers and don't abuse them. If you drive a Volvo you need access to dealer for Volvo diagnostics. Anyone who disagrees with that is banging their head against a wall, or driving a really old one.
I lived more than 50 miles from them I would probably choose something else.
My vote for a nice O/O truck without taking in to account what you haul, where you live, etc. would probably be a FL Coronado glider.
And, why didn't you post this in the owner operator section? -
Place where my buddy parks has a garage. I was talking to Teddy (the owner) he told me it cost him an arm and a leg. But he wishes he had of gotten it a long time ago. O/O pulling for the fed ex terminal up the street are now keeping his shop busy and full. -
