    Me too.

I'll be nice..... only because you want me to....

It's real easy to talk shat when all they see is the after. What do they call it? Monday morning quarterbacking or something?

Rob's got bad luck and I do sometimes feel bad for him. There are somethings that have been his fault, it's a little something called a learning curve.

TO ALL THE REST WHO FEEL THEY WANT TO POST SOMETHING ABOUT HOW WE SHOULDN'T BE SUPPORTING PHARM----
Pharm is a grown up. That means he's a big boy and can make his own decisions. We cannot make him do or not do anything. We show support because we care. That's right, CARE. (probably something they know little about)

Ah, another "Kick Rob while he's down" post. Lovely. Since this is his thread, and he told us to leave this guy alone, I will, but just think about one thing: Rob is telling us just about every mistake he's made. How many of us have made plenty of mistakes when we were starting out, and once we realized we'd made them, it was a difficult pill to swallow to admit it, turn around and fix it, learn from it, and remember it the next time we're faced with a similar situation or problem? And Rob is doing all that plus telling everyone about it. I wouldn't want the folks on this forum to hear about half of the mistakes I've made.

Once again, hang in there, Rob. If you can start out and survive in a lousy business climate like were in now, when good times come back, life should be sweet.

Rob, you've definitely got my respect for being honest here, and admitting your shortfalls. Not a lot of men would do that. All I can say, is that we've seen some of your hard knocks too. I honestly haven't talked to an O/O that hasn't. So keep on keeping on, as we are doing. If we can make it through the next 6 months or so, I really believe that things will look better.

Why am I so optimistic? My son just got a job...... a real job, and he had to file for the extension on his unemployment. The job is in construction, one of the harder hit fields, due to the housing crash. Things are getting better, you have only one way to go and thats up, my friend.

The thing is, he is not a troll like some of the others. He has posted quite often, mostly supportive. I believe he believes what he is saying.

Blind support really is dangerous in general, and truth be told, I have some good friends such as Wayne and Wallygator who have said some things to me on the phone that would not go over too well in text. They were also right. I can use a kick in the butt as much as anyone.

The root of it is I need to take better care of my truck so it will take better care of me. I have had a couple months put together where things have been just fine, if not just great! I'm more experienced now than I was then, so some things are hard to put a finger on. If that truck had run well this past month with just the batteries, tires, basic stuff I've needed to replace and did, we wouldn't be having these conversations today.

The root of the problem is you paid top dollar taking care of your truck. You gave all your money away to truck garages for minor repairs.

That is TRUE! Yes in some cases I've paid over 100 times the value of the repair, as in those airlines.

EXACTLY. I wasn't trying to be hurtfull or anything...I was trying to be helpfull. I appreciate you actually hearing me and stepping in on what could have become a bash fest for me speaking my honest thoughts. There are a lot of things in life that I wish people had just dragged me to a side and said look...here is what you're doing...and it's not going to work.

It may feel to Rob like he's working hard because he spends all these hours in the truck....and has to get covered in #### every now and then...but that's what HAS to be done. If something OPTIONAL comes along...he has not been doing it...and some of the optional stuff has 0 cost involved with it on the upside....and huge costs involved on the downside. In short...that to me is just "playing" trucking. I couldn't believe he took off on his trailer without making some sort of arrangements for it...or even checking on it for days. Instead of blabbing on the phone with someone about nothing for 45 mins....he could blab on the phone for 40 mins and get his hos log up to date. I think he also hasn't quite grasped and appreciated the size of the piece of equipment he is operating and the damage it can do. I operate heavy equipment worth hundreds of thousands of dollars ...some bigger than a truck...some smaller..and it's easy to lull yourself into feeling like you're driving the family car until you look behind you and you've got a string of 20 on fire power poles in tow (never happend to me...but you get the point). I just got to the point here where I have the feeling if Rob doesn't come to appreciate what it is he is actually doing...there is going to be some sort of an accident which involves more that just broken equipment.

As to insurance...you stated back at the start you only insured to a 200 mile radius or something and spend alot of time out of that radius...that was what I was refering to there. If so...that's yet another thing that could come back to bite you hard. Not sure if you changed that or not.
