Hi guys. I'm applying at tanker companies. I have 2.5 year TT experience. I did OTR flatbed for 1.5 years and local fuel hauling/HAZMAT tanker for 1 year.
I haven't drove since may 2018. I'm hoping that is not an issue. I live in South TX. I wanted to do OTR so it will look better on a resume for further employment opportunities but not required for the right pay. I did not want to do slip seat. Bad experiences with that.

Im thinking about applying to Highway Transport, Superior Carriers, Oakley Transport and Bynum for sure. So if you work at any of these companies can you contact me, maybe message me with your phone number so I can talk to you about the operations of these companies. Or if theres any other tanker companies that you think I might be interested in, feel free to contact me. Thank you.

Just an fyi, superior carriers is the chemical side of superior bulk logistics. Carry transit is the food grade.

Oh really. I talked the recruiter and was asking him about that. He said I could fill out one application and he would send that to all the other divisions related to them. He said they are going threw a lot of changes. Do you work there?

Yeah if you put in an app with Superior Bulk Logistics, I would imagine both Superior and Carry would be able to see it as SBL is the (for the time being at least) umbrella company. SC is currently in the middle of a merger/buyout with Heniff. Not sure what's going to happen with Carry once that is done. And yes, I work for Superior Carriers.

Superior said im outside of there hiring area but things are changing with the new merge I guess and to call back in a couple months. They said they usually only hire people who live 100 miles from a terminal. I live 4 hours away from there closet terminal. But policy might change.

Well I got accepted for tanker division out of Lake Wales, FL. Kinda bummed on what they offered me. I have x enforcement with twic. They said ill start out at .42 a mile for food grade loads and .47 for hazmat loads but if I got my passport it would be .47 for food grade loads and .52 for hazmat loads. They said there is a 2000 dollar sign on bonus. Orientation is 4 to 5 days at 125 a day and an extra 300 if im on time to everything. Detention is 15/HR after first 2 hours. Every time I have to drop\pickup a new trailer i get 35 and anytime I pump to load I get 25. Said id be out for 3-5 weeks at a time with 1 day off for every week I'm out. They also said there is a safety bonus which is determined by "events" recorded by the truck and forward facing cameras. They dont have driver facing cameras. But one driver said he get an average of 500 extra a month in bonuses. I asked what an average looking paycheck might look like and she said she had recently pulled up a company drivers pay check and it was a little over 1400.
I also got an offer at Bynum at .45 a mile. Detention is 10 an hour after 2 hours hours. Didnt get much more info out of them as far as pay goes. They dont pump so no load/unload pay. They said I would be out 3 weeks and home 3/4 full days. They said there drivers get between 2800 to 3200 miles.

One thing though is my medical card expired on 6/25/2020 and Bynum wants me to pay to get another before i go to orientation out of my own pocket. Then they want me to get another at orientation that they'll pay for. At first Bynum said it was bc my CDL could be reduced but i looked up online that in texas they arnt reducing CDL for expired medical card because of covid. I called her back to clearify that and she said she knew but wanted me to still get it. I thought that was BS.

Oakley has already set me up to get my DOT medical and drug test in the next city over and they are paying for it. They said to keep my gas receipt and they will reimburse me for gas bc it's 45min away. So that's way better than what Bynum will do.

I still need to talk to Indian River transport, Sherman Brothers and TriState. All seem interest and have scheduled phone interviews after running my information. I will keep updating.

Whereabouts in South Texas do you live? I see lots of food-grade tankers running down to the Valley and coming back out.

You might wanna check out Service Transport. We have a yard right off 37 and Navigation. We do out and back runs and can easily be home weekly or stay out longer if you want.

I never worked for them, but I did enough homework when I was applying to vouch for them. Heard enough good things that they were my second choice if Superior didn't work out.
