I'm seriously thinking about just doing my own thing right from the start. I am real tired or rules for the good of the company. That and limited potential are my two biggest reasons for doing this in the first place. If I fail well then I just get a job, right?

Landstar is 75/25 split, fixed costs are $280-$350, How much is a new authority per year? $20k-$30k? Im in the same boat. You fuel discount is probably around $.60. So many variables, the reason I decided to put my truck on with a major company is because of the load boards and seeing what you can get out there. Per mile is very low out there right now. I figured out that I would have to average out about $1.90 - $2.00 per miles in order to pay for and authority. Ill get my own authority once i see those rates going back up. Just my own 2 cents.

What rules dont u like. ? How much responsibility do u wanna take on ? There is alot more than meets the eye running ur own truck. And lots more rules to follow than just being a company driver. But if u wanna learn, ive heard landstar is a great place to start
