I stay on the road for about 10 week stretches. I carry groceries, cooking appliances/utensils, clothing and shoes/boots for all weather. I don't know how anyone could get by with a LW. Good luck to you!

    "light weight" truck?

is that one where the bunk is right up against the seats?

    had one of those.

put everything on the bunk, when you stop, put it all in front on the seats.

back and forth every night. lol

I called them teamster day cabs.

Yeah lightweight is right up against the seats, no shelf space. That seems like too much effort, and I have a medical condition where a condo would be really useful.

I don't think playing the "Medical Condition" card is going to work. I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but, there is no reason you can't put the CPAP Machine on the floor. Just tell them you want a full sized Sleeper Cab Truck because that is what you want. I would certainly think a driver would have the option.....maybe not.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Prime would remove the passenger by request so drivers would have more room for storage. How big is this CPAP anyway that you are struggling to find space for it in a Class 8 tractor?.

I wouldn't rule out a lightweight until you have tried it. We humans have a funny trait of "expanding" to fill the space we are in. If you get a condo you will wind up filling it with stuff...stuff you could probably live without. When I turned in my last OTR tractor I could barely fit everything in my extra cab F150. It was shocking how much I had accumulated in 2.5 years.

Also, don't overlook a big advantage of the smaller truck, easier to maneuver in tight docks or getting that last empty space at a truck stop.

Could be a lifesaver to a new, inexperienced driver.

I guess... i'll just put it in the corner I just hope I don't end up stepping on it when I have to get up. Yes, i'm going to have the passenger seat removed but that's where the fridge and stuff like that goes. I'll also have to find a way to hang up my clothes but I guess I could get away with a L/W at first.

Hanging up clothes?. Have you spent anytime looking at what truck drivers wear?. You are doing good if you only sleep in them for two nights.

"It may be crushed and creased, but it's clean" is the mantra I live by.

Hung up, next you will be wanted them ironed too. :)

I thought those LW were only for tanker or some special loads that require it. I can't imagine that it would be a standard issue truck for regular OTR drivers. Those truck only have room for maybe 8 days of clothes. You need room for laundry bag and laundry soap and shower bag and place for winter jacket. A regular old truckers map to check back roads are ok for trucks vs going any place GPS says. A winter jacket takes up a lot of room and you putting it on and off a lot
