No I didn't ask, they just had some kind of super special going on. That's what they offered.

Our OM does nothing but truck. Always sifting through sites to see what might be a good deal.

I recently ground freightliner down on a 16' 680 that was a really nice truck, but then that driver fell through.

Dave, what do you find is the most common reason for landstar turning drivers down?

What is their requirement for time driving, tickets etc?

I’m sure you have your own req. as well.

Usually driving record. Proof of experience.

They won't give me specifics. They will tell me if the person is flat not qualified or if there's something they need clarification on.

Is your Detroit original motor Blair? I am looking for a Landstar able truck for when I think I am ready. So been looking 2000 and up.

I spent hours looking over trucks at the Taylor auction and seems so many of the 400k+ 2014-16 model truck had check engine lights and were company truck beat to hell. The 7-8 Pete 379/389 in the 2000s with double the miles were still holding up interior and exterior wise although most listed had in frames done. Some with paperwork in the truck.

The whole deal seems to be learn emissions really well and get a code reader and a Cali capable truck or get and older truck with no emissions and smaller sleeper (ain’t no way I’m finding a beast like yours lolol) and live a more simple life. I am all about simplicity.

This has been a cool thread. Enjoy not seeing any #####ing and arguing lol

    blairandgretchen Thanks this.

Yes, it’s original motor on first rebuild.

For me, the pre EGR route has worked well. The trick is finding a well cared for truck.

Smarter guys than me have schooled themselves on the emissions trucks and done well too, I’m just not prepared to go that route.

It is however, a critical decision when you first start out, Ive watched it sink several fledgling start ups.

Yes, every now and then the children behave and play together nicely :)

Didn't need it, I'm home a lot. I installed it myself, so I removed it and sold it to a guy that does wind energy.
