Some of the loads are guaranteed loads and run loaded or empty. Back in the day my Dad had some guaranteed loads from NJ back to Shakey, Some weeks I'd back in they would seal and mt trailer give me a BOL that show 0 on the Net Weight and no product count, paid him the same as stacked the ceiling.

Oh yeah, I’ve had it happen more than once. Never signed the BOL, just gave Me a paper stating it had been broken, and resealed. With seal#s, and contact info.

The Cordelia scales are 28 miles from my house. I can go 2 weeks without getting pulled in to a scale in 5 states, but 30 minutes from home and empty, the westbound scale will give me the red light to pull in while everybody around me gets the green. There is no rhyme or reason to it. They just kind of randomly pull you in. Eastbound I almost always get a green light.

Blitz is starting this week. How are you going to explain to them during an inspection having product in your trailer with bills of lading when you went through the empty lane?

Could be a state thing. Nc normally doesn’t participate in the nationwide deal. They generally do a 48hr deal the next week.

Kind of the same, I have ask several times and they have always signed it off on the BOL , but a written statement with Badge number, location, time and date would work.

It is a state thing. The CVSA does the planning and most of the training. I have seen Texas do it for a few days, wait for a week or two, and hit it hard again. I think the primary reason this is done is to trick drivers into thinking once the "official" blitz is over they are safe. NOTHING could be further from the actual facts!

It would be impossible to tell theres 230 pounds in a reefer trailer just by watching it roll over bumps or scales.
Fuel creates a 1000+ pounds of difference. My tanks hold 300 gallons plus another 50 in the reefer.
