This is a jet engine. It gets more photo's taken of it than Princess Diana. This is what you haul when you've been at home too long, and decide you need to go to work, but forget it's the week preceding 4th July weekend.

This is it all tarped on the truck. You take it to O'hare and fool with the airport (they're super helpful, and like masks)

This is a load you researched for hours, annoyed @Old Man on, and signed up for . . . right up to the point they sent you this picture, at which point you respectfully declined their full tarp job, even at $10/mile. Because he always said - NO UNCRATED MACHINERY SHALL BE TARPED. F that idea. What a shredder.

Here is a building being dismantled just north of the river in Louisville. Jett Boats. They used to build barges. Really sad - it's like the set of the Walking Dead. Used to employ 1300 people. Anyway - each of the uprights are 70' long. The trusses are 6 to a load, wide and long.

Nice folks to deal with, but it's a demolition job, so nothing all inside and AC controlled and nicey nice. Might be bread and butter for a little bit.

Slap it on the truck and go to my favorite masked up place, the last place that I thought would ever succumb to it - Texas.

Then find yourself in Laredo TX for the first time at the "Landstar of Laredo" (LOL) terminal, and I'm not sure if I should post pictures of what passes for BCO trucks down here or not . . . .

So - I'm sure you might ask - "What happened to all the golden $ loads? - where to from here?"

I've been a little slack on the accounting, haven't entered fuel/maintenance and supplies into the system, so can't deliver the % profit/loss etc.

As of the last paid load the $/mile stands at $5.27 - Miles YTD @ 27,893.

I'll catch up here shortly. The one thing I know, is that working 2 weeks in the last 2 months doesn't help my productivity.

Kinda good to return to the roots - scrambling, sweating, out of the usual element, "what's next thinking". Took me at least 8 hours to get over my fear of going to Texas.

One of my well versed apology letters.

She said - "In years past they didn't require tarping and we had less problems moving these loads"

I had said "in all due conscience, I cannot guarantee satisfaction of the customer with what I am tasked with".

Be sure and take your coat to Laredo, and stay far away when they unload you, it may be a 5 or 6 forklift job.
About those golden $ loads, sorry I had to go back to work.

I'm sure the local's were salivating over your equipment - you run a tight ship with maintenance.
My last time in Laredo was in Feb of 2019 - and it's so shocking to see the equipment that hustles around. Makes the garbage that ran the railroads back in the early 90's in Chicago look like a gem and that's not saying much.
