I was stressed with my neck pain and had all the negative thoughts in mind so I ended up speeding without realizing. I was caught doing 20+ over the limit around Alexandria, VA. I was shocked when the cop told me I was doing 20+ in a 35 zone. I was polite and cooperative so he did not charge me with reckless driving.
My first speeding ticket ever, and first ticket in 5 years. My last ticket was an illegal u-turn in 2015. So I hired an attorney and begged him to do something about it, or atleast get me the traffic school option. What do you Pros think? In the worst case, will this speeding ticket be an obstacle on my way to trucking?
    Thanks

On a postive note my application for the SBA EIDL was approved, and they deposited $20,000 in my account. The loan is 3.75% for 30 years and $98/month.

Either way make sure it's taken care of before you get your CDL. All the penalties are based on conviction date And 15+ over is a very big issue to a CDL holder. Plus a CDL holder can't do traffic school.

Can attorneys dismiss speeding tickets? Also, I remember exactly the officer told me I was being cool and cooperative with him, and that he will say that to the judge. What difference would that make?
I am trying everything to take care of this. I printed out my driving abstracts from 3 states in the last 5 years, and none of them show any points or accidents.

I drive Uber and Lyft now. I don't have my CDL yet. As an Uber/Lyft driver I can safely use this loan for my business.

Depends on the jurisdiction. Most of the time the answer is yes, but I know from personal experience (20 years ago, so even that could have changed), in Texas getting a speeding ticket in a construction zone the judge cannot, by law, reduce it.

I hope so. Attorney's words in reply to my email after I sent him the ticket, my abstracts, and paid him his fee.

"Thank you for sending me all of this. I understand and appreciate the importance of your driver's license, and am already on top of this."

Trucking companies consider speeding 15 mph or more as reckless driving.
Tell your lawyer to at least get it reduced to below 15 mph over and much less if the judge will agree.
Do this and you won't have any problem finding a decent trucking job.

As far as your Uber/Lyft business, do what gives you job satisfaction.

I always thought "Sidecar" was a good idea, but it didn't work out.

I don't mind going to traffic school. I hope that my first speeding ticket ever, my attorney and my politeness with the cop help me win the traffic school.

@Chinatown is correct about the carriers when it comes to these kinds of things. Take a look at the violations listed in ALL the tables I am linking to, this is from part 383.51, and as a Trucker, you need to be VERY mindful of these violations. While this rule DID NOT apply to you at the time of that speeding arrest (if you only had a regular DL) it is still important to know this and understand the information. AND be careful that when you do get a CDL this rule applies to you EVEN while driving a non-CMV in some aspects.

Take a long look at Table 1 look to the far left and you will see a list of 10 violations. Some carriers will NOT hire you if you even with a regular driver's license violate (1) (2) (4) (5) (6) and (9).
