YES But divisible also applies to overwidth and/or overlength also.
You can't create an oversize load. IE side by side to be over 102 in or 1 behind the other to create an over length

That is why I said under a total of 53ft in many states as that is a maximum for trailer and/or load without a permit.
Some states only regulate trailer length and overhang separately and therefore you may overhang X amount off the end of any trailer no matter the overall length of the load or overall truck, trailer and load length.
This is why hauling oversize has become an art where you need to know the regulations for each jurisdiction a load will travel BEFORE quoting a rate so that the route and permits are adequately charged for and the extra time is compensated for.

Wife found this on Facebook. Truck pulling windmill blade supposedly followed their specific routing issued to them. They ended up off the interstate in Des Moines. Technically the 2 streets are both truck routes but no where near big enough to realistically accommodate this load.

They ended up getting Public Works out there to remove signs in the median and jumped the curb

[IMG]now they sit and likely try to figure out what's going on. This is only a mile from downtown so I highly doubt its destination was nearby. The yards they load them at are no where near here either.

    WTF, guys?!?!? :( SMH.

Plus all the little caveats such as

NY thruway- any overhang front or rear is considered to need a thruway permit. Not to mention the fun at the GWB.

Indiana pay road - the load was inspected at the toll booth and the permit number must be visible on the side of the load.

permit for the flashing lights in Georgia and 1 other state I can't think of- yours and your escorts.

A 48 ft trombone opened 1 hole in some places. [wheelbase]

What are some more for future reference?

I once seen a truck with 2 48 ft sea cans on a trombone stretched out. I wonder how far he got

Some times the jurisdiction create the route and sometimes the driver/company creates it. In either case the trucking company is responsible. A guy in a PU is used to preplan a route.

Construction can be a nightmare. and put you places you shouldn't be.

Another 1 is where you are on a route where 2 roads run together or beside each other and you get off thinking you are on route if you get off

The driver is always responsible. The pilot cars only follow instructions.
To be fair tho some pilot car drivers know the ropes.
