    hey guys,
Looking at 13 Cascadia single axle sleeper that was used to haul an RV, one owner 85k miles.
Has a Cummins ISX12 450hp / 1650lb torque and an eaton fuller ultrashift auto 13 speed transmission.

I have a driver that will lease out my Ram if I decide to not sell it. My 2019 3500 will be paid off at the end of August. I currently only work Monday to Thursday cause as some of you know it is not that comfortable staying in a pickup truck for extended periods. I avoid having to reset in the pickup truck like the plague. I don't idle my truck at night.

I know that this truck is overkill for my 3 car hauler. I'll throw the rear extensions back on and maybe add front extensions cause there is a lot of room between the fifth wheel and cab to try and fit 4 when i can. I'll be registering it for 53k lbs and probably never reach it. This gives me the option to one day advance to a sun country 4 car in the future.

The 13 is still a def truck so would like to invest in an APU/HVAC system. I'm guessing about $10k installed?

    So yay or nay?

I won't ever tell anyone to buy an emission rig, because I flat out don't like them. So maybe i should stay out of this..

I think I know what truck you're talking about.
Is it red, small bunk mid roof.?
It could be a good truck, but I've been told to stay away from early year of scr (def) engines. The isx12 is not that common, so may be hard to get answers on it reliability wise.. It looks brand new from pics though..

With that said if ELD's don't bother you, this rig is on the same site. I'd be more interested in this, especially with that nice 13speed. Looks clean, but only 5 pics, & very little info.. Priced right, especially if that Cat has been rebuilt..

Early emissions trucks up to about 2015 can always be a pain. Some have no issues but others do, and when they do have problems, holy sheet is that expensive.

Also the ultra shift is great... When it works. I had a 16 Pete with an 18 speed unltra shift. I was towed 3 times in 6 months because the transmission would lock up. But that's me.

Over all the truck is low miles so it could be good. Maybe invest in a 5 car hauler in the first and go with that?

With the emissions system all I can do is maintain the truck to the best of my ability and cross my fingers.
Did they find out why the transmission locked up?

I gross the same and sometimes more than those 5 car haulers with my 3 car low profile. I specialize in tall/heavy vehicles. If I ever do upgrade my trailer it will be for a low pro 4 car suncountry or a GN450 infinity.
The reason for my upgrade is mostly for comfort. I don't like staying out too long in my Ram and I avoid resetting in it. I wanted to install an APU and AC/Heat cause I don't idle my truck but it would add too much weight. My Ram already weighs 10k lbs without the trailer. I have 2000 engine hours on it and only 300 idle out of those 2000.

I'm currently dealing with IRP for my new apportioned plates and am sitting at home cause I am having issues with the paperwork. As soon as I am back on the road I will go see the truck and decide.

My issue was all electronic reasons. Now one thing I can say is that every time I had issues with the trans, it's after I dump a load of rock or dirt and I'm driving off road. Basically it would struggle to find a gear before eventually popping out and throwing the dreaded "transmission fault" and then straight lock up. You could do a hard battery reset on the truck and when you fire it up to move, it would sorta pick the gear but when you go to drive, it acts like the brakes are all locked. The whole truck will torque and twist but never move. Had to disconnect the drive shaft to tow it. Was a company truck so I never learned in detail what they did to fix it.

I'll admit when it worked, it worked well.

I've never ran a 13 sp but I had both the 12sp auto & the 10 speed Eaton in 2 different Cascadias and I can tell you the auto got better fuel mileage. I dunno if the 13 speed with help or not but Freightliners auto is the way to go in my book if you are looking at newer trucks (since that 12sp came out) It's actually a very good auto trans. It's awesome in the mountains as well.

I never ran a Cummins but one thing I was always told is they are expensive to inframe because of the cam placement but I guess at 85k miles you have a long time before you'd have to worry about that.

For the record, before I ended up going hotshot I was very much considering buying a used Semi and just leasing on somewhere. It wasn't until I started looking at all the BS with leasing on to other companies like Mercer or Landstar that I said screw it and pulled my authority.

Anyway.. In all my research my conclusion was to buy a D60 truck and stay away from a used DPF truck. if I went with a semi. If you are gonna mess with the DPF trucks it needs to be new.

Also don't do resets in the pickup truck.. I signed up with Holiday Inn Express business plan and get them in the $70ish a night range. Yes it sucks paying to sleep somewhere but if it lets you stay out longer you're making more in the long run.

I just hate semis so it's why I do the little trucks. I like the less limitations that come with smaller trucks for moving around and parking.

I wouldn't just because of that Ultrashift transmission but that is pretty incredibly low miles for a 2013.
