Yes team runs. And what days you work will depend on what bud run you pick.
Runs vary from 3-6 days a week. There are lots that are Mon-Fri
How it works is you bid on a run. And you keep that run until you decide to bid off of it onto another run.
Bid runs are set schedule. You will do the exact same thing every week.

For all that are curious about working for Big Brown, specifically the Feeder driver position.
I just spoke with a recruiter today regarding the feeder position.
here's what I was told.
1. Yes, they will give you full-time hours, but ONLY on a temporary(seasonal) basis. There is no probation period of any type or any indication whatsoever that tells a temp-hire WHEN or even IF they would eventually make it permanent, nothing. The only thing I was told was" if the terminal couldn't function without you"(those were her words verbatim) then you would be offered a permanent position. The only time they had open slots was when someone retired, that's it. The company looks for drivers and hires as much as they can IN-HOUSE. Once that is exhausted, THEN they hire off the street.
2. You MUST join the teamsters union. This was non-negotiable.
3. If there wasn't enough work as a TT driver, you would be thrown into the brown box trucks for the time being. This was done on a seniority basis.
4. Temp hires were paid $30/hr with OT kickin' in after 8hrs. Once permanent, you then slide all the way back to $21/hr for your first year and progress up a 4-year pay scale. Top pay occurs after your 4th year. (Not sure why this guy in the video would say "you will start close to top pay from the beginning. Not true).
All in all, the recruiter did say that working for UPS is a long term commitment and is best suited for a younger individual who's willing to put in the years in order to move up. And NOT suitable for someone making a mid-level career move.Fastbreakstar22, Speed_Drums and EuropeanTrucker Thank this. -
Everything this guy said in this video is 100% correct.
And starting out in UPS is definitely worth it even for someone making a move in their mid level career. It all depends on the situation of the area you are hiring on in.
But there are some areas where it is not worth it. Mostly small centers where they don't have much drivers and you have to wait for someone to retire while you have several drivers in line ahead of you.
This is NOT the case in every hub. And NOT the case in the one specific to this video.Banker and EuropeanTrucker Thank this. -
LtlAnonymous Thanks this.

Can a current or previous ups driver discuss how team assignments are made?
It seems like being compatible with your co-driver is a must in order to be happy. -

Is there any residency requirements to live within X miles of the terminal ?

Some guys live in a hotel during the week and go home on the weekends. There are ways to work it out.
