I would ask for your source material. NOT the analysis, the SOURCE MATERIAL. Statistics can and VERY often lie!

Figures lie and liars figure, especially when bias is part of the equation.

And that would be a serious MISTAKE to assume! I am VERY involved! I am officially retired as a driver. I am wheelchair-bound. For privacy reasons, I won't get into the details, but I am aware of a lot more than you might think!

@TexasKGB you have not directly attacked me and to be honest I am mostly picking on you. I am also impressed that you are defending this industry, your job and your generation. To be sure I am happy people such as yourself do this VERY important job. I would just council you do do this with the facts. You can't really see these changes I speak of unless you have like I had lived through them. Take care!

    PEACE!

    :laughing3:

I’m not active in trucking??? :laughing-guffaw:

I’ve been at it for 20 years, 15 of that as a peddle hand with a nationwide LTL, so you may now remove your foot from your mouth.

    REO6205 and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

When you've got a family, a business plan, and are working in a hostile industry you don't really listen to outside voices. Still, appreciate the input and the nice comment.

To be honest, my attitude is in large part a result dealing with the costs and regulations the previous "professional" generations of drivers incurred with their cool. Cool don't pay the bills.

Now-uninsurable drivers calling me and my cohort unprofessional is funny. I've liked the jokes.

My bad. I figured anyone still associated with Mack is either 80 years old or a paid shill. Mack isn't competitive, either.

Agreed, generally speaking, rates have gone down overall. I would just add that the largest majority of the changes I am speaking about are not going to show up in accident or death stats. Unprofessional behavior is very much different. I'm going to drop out of this part of the subject but before I do I want to add some stats I have heard, that speak DIRECTLY to the primary problem. It is estimated that very close to 60% of ALL OTR drivers have less than 2 years of experience. It is also estimated that a full 25% have LESS than 6 months. I have not heard this officially, but it is my understanding the average time of experience for a trainer is 18 months. This stuff is killing this industry and goes back to what is estimated as an OVER 100% turnover rate.
