It's a lot more in having a good way of presenting your P&L

But don't believe your own bs about the numbers you give the bank, you'll end up thinking you'll be a millionaire in 6 years if you do :p

Don't get ahead of yourself! Get that CDL, learn how to operate a Tractor Trailer safely and efficiently. If you are looking for a mortgage, you had better stick with one company for 3 years! Mortgage Companies like to see job stability. If you work for 2 or 3 companies in your first few years, you'll have a tough time finding a lender to deal with you. Good luck! : )

That's what I thought too, but I got approved for a mortgage after less than one year with my first trucking company. All income earned in the preceding 13 years was overseas.

Wow, flatbed pay and dry van are the same, near enough anyways..
    No tarp pay?
Or less per mile, Flatbed freight always paid more than van, and refrigerated more than flat.

i started last year and my first 12 months with swift i have made just over 50k, big thing is dont always expect a 1000 a week when doing otr some weeks will be less and some will be more, in one week i sat for almost 72 hours in california waiting on loads right after i did a 34, that week sucked made like 500 for the week but other weeks i made upwards of 1500 in a week

That is pretty close to my 2 year stint with Swift as well, don't think I ever got the $1500 dollar check though, lol. All in all it was a great place for ME to get started in this industry. I have since moved on, but, they treated me well, I've nothing bad to say. One plus is lots of new tractors. The last one I was issued was a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia. 1500 miles on the clock, refrigerator, Opti idle. Turned it in with about 90K. Only thing it ever needed was 4 new batteries. Lots of folks like to bash Swift on this Forum and elsewhere. (I doubt many, if any of them ever worked there.......oh well.....to each his own. My experience was a good one....your mileage may vary.

i am pretty happy at swift, when i was dry otr it was hard to get a 1500 check but i switched to costco dedicated in the pnw running what swift calls heavy haul trucks, my truck is a 17 cascadia with a 4th drop axle and i pull 3axle reefers and 4axle vans running up to 105,500 i usually average 2700ish miles a week and i am home every weekend, i leave monday morning and get home saturday morning, my base pay is .43cpm but since my longest run is 320 miles i always make more then that, on my last check with just my mileage pay i averaged .50cpm not including accessory pay, its kind of hard to want to leave swift cause between hometime and my pay not very many places will be able to match it and i dont have to worry about my fuel card all of a sudden not working and being stranded hundreds of miles from home

Why would you want to leave that gig. Sounds like a good deal. Swift has quite a few Dedicated Accounts, and many drivers do quite well on them. I was on a Wally World dedicated account for several months. Good money, just didn't like the monotony of the same thing day in, day out. I prefer Long Haul Solo Dry Van. I stay out for 10-12 weeks at a shot. (By choice). I have found a company that offers the things I desire in a trucking job. This industry is NOT a one size fits all. There are multiple facets to trucking. You just need to find what is right for you. There really is no "right" or "wrong" company.

That 50k was after taxes or before taxes?
