I was told the other day that certain year model trucks are exempt from having to use eld? Is that true and if so? Does that also pertain to pickups hauling hotshot loads and rv's?

    Yeas, kinda.
It goes off the power train year. For hotshot work that will be the same year most likely.

And it's before year 2000 for the date.

Pre 2000 trucks or trucks manufactured after 2000 with a 1999 or older motor.

Yes it applies to hotshots. RV's are exempt as they are used for personal use, unless someone was using it for commercial purposes

They are looking to do away with the pre 2000 exemption. Could happen pretty soon.

Been hearing that rumor since the mandate created the exemption. Don't hold your breath for it though.

It would hurt me more than help me if they did change it. LOL.
