    Hi all, looking into starting a residential trash business. Been finding conflicting information. How many 96 gallon cans would fill an 8 yard rear loader?

    At 96 Gallon a can you are looking at 16-17 cans going by that formula, but I think that seems way low.
    The average American creates like 4 pounds of trash a day. So a family of 4 would make roughly 112 pounds of trash a week. If your truck can compact 1000 pounds per square yard, you can probably cram between 60-100 cans in an 8 yard truck. A big 31 yard truck can do about 700-800 cans so a small 8 yarder should be between 60-100.
