    1500 a week 1099 is bs.

Think of it this way. You're a one horse show, what can you offer what a 1000+ truck company can. You can make 1500 gross a wk on w2 why would a driver do that on a 99

    Htown4 Thanks this.

Imo you better have something to offer more than money , like regular hometime , stable lanes or even something dedicated . I don't understand how the 1099 thing is good in the long run

I said 1099 because there's a lot of hassle with W2 for only one employee. The wife keeps pushing for a driver, I'd rather sell the extra truck or save it as a spare. If, typically, 1/3 of your gross goes to taxes as 1099, the driver would 'clear' 1000/wk.

Honestly unless you really want to build a business owning a truck is not good for "passive" income . I would sell it or like you said use it as a spare. I have nine trucks with 7 drivers , I think the math works on an extra truck or two for now , but if I was unsure about how committed I was to run them I wouldn't want the Xtra work of running just one

Generally, when you add a second truck it should make enough to cover the maintenance on both trucks. But you do have the headache of having someone working for you

If you're on a line haul, you must be with a freight outfit. I thought they give the O/O's all the crap they don't want their company drivers doing.

Drivers who work for O/O generally are the ones who can't get hired by companies, because of criminal history ect...

HA! There was a time when that was true, but I think today, it just comes down to stubborn pride, and that's okay, if you can feed your family with pride. You want to feed the insurance companies, and it's outrageous for an O/O today, by all means, go right ahead. Flo needs another level on her house,,,
