FedEx Freight here, we don’t get dinged for either of those things. Most newer trucks will pick up the speed limit sign and display it on the dash, and alert you if you’re exceeding it. But it doesn’t report that back to FedEx. If the truck exceeds 74mph, it will trigger an event recording on the ELD, but they don’t appear to care about those.

The only time I had it happen was when I got caught off guard going down a hill at night. Even though the speed limit was 65, I didn’t hear anything about the 75mph “event.” I actually did get talked to about a (lack of) following distance event from that same night.

It’s not a recording, it’s an alert on the ELD and the system just records the date and time you went over 74. You’ll never hear about it for going over 74, but if something happens safety will use the flags that you’ve generated in the course of dropping the hammer. Nice cheeky way to give you more rope to hang your self with.

That’s just wonderful when you come off a 25 mph street to get on a 70 mph freeway, and it thinks you’re going nearly triple the speed limit.

Ours are 12mph over. Haven’t tried it in a 75mph zone at 87mph but I don’t think I’m gonna try it either. Lol. I can roll some hills in my area pretty hard too.

Huh I never knew that. The message that popped up looked exactly the same as the one that came up for the headway event (saw the video clip from that) and also ones that pop up for things like turning too sharp, almost hitting a bridge, and manual recordings.

We were told 5 over the posted speed limit. Since we switched over I have been above 90 every week now.

As someone who reads too much, I am amused that a company monitoring truck drivers calls itself Samsara.

    Etymology:
    Sanskrit saṁsāra, literally, passing through

    Definition:
: the indefinitely repeated cycles of birth, misery, and death caused by karma

For a minute there, I thought you were saying you got your truck over 90mph every week.
