    Sorry I accidentally pressed post
I was saying I just changed my fuel transfer pump and fuel lines from tank up to the filters also changed the primary fuel filter and fuel water separator filter now I primed the truck but I believe the primer is broke so I started the truck with a little ether and it idled for a minute than shut off so I checked the filter it was low because of the new lines so I re filled it I did that a couple times until it held fuel meaning the lines are now primed manuallly the truck won’t stay started I took off the line from the transfer pump and the lines itself poured out fuel but the fitting on the transfer pump had no fuel pouring out so I’m assuming the transfer pump isn’t sending fuel to the mechanical pump now my question is I want to verify if it’s the transfer pump that’s faulty or something else so if the transfer pump isn’t any good would the truck start and or stay started ? Any idea what could cause my issue ?Any help is very appreciated

Does it have a hand primer? If so take it off and look in the bottom the check valves are bad to flip. They should be opposite of each other. Also check the orings on the 2 fittings in the lift pump maybe one got cut and its sucking air

Ok I’ll check on the hand primer, maybe that’s why it’s not priming because it’s probably sucking air, and as far as the transfer pump it’s brand new and the o rings are as well but I’ll check again, but if I take the lines off the transfer pump if it sucked fuel up wouldn’t it pour out once the lines are off? The lines itself did meaning it made it from the filter to the pump but the transfer pump isn’t doing it’s job, I’m just assuming though

And also would it start if it’s a bad transfer pump? I’ve read different things online some say it’ll start but won’t run right others say it won’t start at all

    jamespmack Thanks this.

If it's not pumping at all it wont start. If its sorta pumping it may start. Take the line off to the filter base from the lift pump and run it into a soda bottle whirl it over 10 seconds and see how full the bottle is

Hey sorry for late reply I was on the road, I took off the hand pump I’ll post a pic can you tell me what you mean by them being flipped?
Also the line that goes from the tank to the fuel water separate filter isn’t getting any fuel going through it I even dumped 3 gallons by hand into the line, still nothing the primer seems to be the issue I’m assuming so might have to just change that out, all the other lines have some fuel in it expect the ones front the tank to fuel water seperator which is the first place the fuel goes than it sends it to the lift pump which sends it to the filter that has the hand pump attached and from there to the high pressure fuel pump

    The valves are right.

First thing I would do is make sure it isnt sucking air between the lift pump and tank. Pull the line off the back side of water separator put your thumb over the fitting on the separator and crank it to see if its pulling your thumb into the filter. If not check fitting on bottom of lift pump. If so go toward the tank

Just to be sure, your saying pull off the line on the seperator filter that’s coming from the tank and see if it pulls my finger? That will ensure if the lift pump is pulling right?
