I've said my piece before about ramps.... OFF ramps: big no-no.
ON ramps: not such a big deal.

Case in point: I'm in Bennett, CO atm. Pretty big Love's here but it's full up. There's an iffy Shell up the road, but it's probably packed, too. I have 3hrs of drive time left today but only need to go 35mi to delivery. (Centennial) Even if I wanted to go out of my way, the TA is packed (always), you don't dare chance an unknown Walmart anymore and there is little to no chance of finding parking downtown. ON ramp it is! With an on ramp, drivers aren't quite up to speed yet and more likely to be paying attention.

Judging by how often these clowns mistakenly think that I'm going to slow down so that they can merge doing 40-55, I'm not so sure they are really paying much attention until about the last 2 seconds before they either stomp on it or slam on the brakes.

    I agree !
no driver should park on the side of the road or an off ramp.
    But !!
People should not be hitting anything that is stopped and not in the legal driving lane !
    I don’t care what it is !
If you went to the scene of the accident you would surely see what the next thing in the drivers path was that he would hit if the truck wasn’t parked there.
So instead of hitting the truck it might of been a tree or a concrete wall, or something or someone else?
I just don’t understand I drive thousands of miles a year both in and out of the truck but I never drive on the shoulder or the median because I know there is a potential for death doing such a stupid thing.

    Oh stop with the nonsense.
There is plenty of parking in that area.

That lazy good for nothing driver belongs in prison.

    Depends how you do it.

If you must do this, park on the ramp to get ON the freeway, not the one coming OFF. Neither is really an ideal option, but one is considerably safer than the other.

A get on ramp to me is acceptable in an emergency.. If suddenly I became drowsy and it was needed I’d use one..and have in the past.

The old Lee Hi truck stop (TA now) not far from where the accident occurred. Always parking available anytime of the night.

Bud A. and TokyoJoe Thank this.
