Looking to purchase a high roof Volvo to pull chemical tankers. Will I have too much of an issue with clearance?

We have a couple places with 12' doors. Not a lot of people using condos. I run a mid roof myself. @ChicagoJohn @Orange713 @Rugerfan maybe will chime in.

I ran a condo with a tanker for 4 years, 20 places or so out of that time I had to back under the racks.
One in El dorado Ar refused to let me back under, so since I asked before I took the load, I got paid TFNU.

Yes you might , but it would not be a common issue.
You see quite a lot of places filling up tankers from the top, and quite a lot of places using something like this
    single-spot-bulk-loading-rack-for-tanker-application.jpg
Now you will have find a place where backing under it with 13'6 is will be no no, BUT again in most places it will just create a little extra problem you .
But again I see few 13,6 trucks carrying tankers quite often....

Ya, don't see too many. Currently do tanker work as a company driver and I have been to some plants with low clearance.

So you asked the dispatcher if they allow condos? Wasn't aware they would have that kind of info

That actually is not too high form the top of the tanker.

Cant remember coming across any of this type. Its always the drop down rack. If i get there and I cant get under, I get penalized or what.

Thankfully I had a experienced driver I was shadowing catch the gangplank with our company midroofs at a big dairy.

Taught me to Always look overhead pulling in.

What and who are you guys pulling for as O/Os

I hauled milk for 15 months and it Spoiled me. I have my own truck now but up in the air what I want to pull with it.

How is chemical? Is the money worth the risk. ?

Am company driver with Superior drivers and the money is good there when busy. Is it worth the risk? Depends on your risk tolerance. Does milk pay good? Are you in a high roof truck?

On the east coast the older racks can be an issue. I had a roof fairing on my mid roof. The new racks raise and lowered. The older ones are fixed in height.
