As optimistic as I am that oil will bounce back, I think 2009-2014 was the last "big" boom we're going to see. Oil is definitely not going anywhere in my lifetime but the days of long hours and high 4 figure take home paycheques is probably gone. Just going to be an average job from now on I think.

I often wonder if we'll see the rise of smaller companies/one and two truck operations vs huge corporations. I mean all the big players are hurting. Mullen Group let a bunch of employees go a few months back, Entrec Corp is hurting/filled for protection. Now BJ Services and Sanjel. These are just the ones I've heard about. There's dozens of smaller, 10-20 truck outfits that went under just in Alberta alone the last couple years.Last edited: Aug 3, 2020
