Heck yes I'm getting old.
When I was a young lad of 33, I could get up at 4:30 a.m., do framing on the 1000 SF addition I was building, then go to work remodeling kitchens until 4 or 5, come home, eat supper, then do more framing until about 10:30 p.m., go to bed, and repeat that for about six months until I had that addition finished.
When I was in my early 40's, I built a 24' x 24', two story workshop by myself (except the foundation and erecting the trusses). I somehow lifted those 24' long, 2x6" stud wall up off the floor and into the vertical by myself. I pulled those 4x8 sheet of OSB up onto the roof on a makeshift ramp. Same for the shingle bundles. I'm amazed how I had the energy to do that.
Now, I can barely last six hours in 98F humid heat of Florida doing exterior work. The hot summers was the whole reason I got this trucking idea in my head in the first place. And I was thinking about an air conditioned Peterbilt 579 bunk when I was up that ladder with the sun beating down on me. Oh well. Next week is an inside kitchen remodel with air conditioning (cue the chorus of angelic voices).
Funny side note: I was up a ladder working on that workshop I mentioned before. I think I was doing the starter course for the shingles. I had the radio on, and this song I had never heard came on. Reba McEntire's He gets that from me. I was listening intently to the words. Nice song. I like it. When it got to the punchline, I swear to God, I started weeping like a child. I'm a full grown man, up a ladder, nailing shingles, and I'm crying.
Dang she's good. And I wasn't even drunk!
I just watched the official video. I'm disturbed by the amount of time her eyes are off the road looking at her son and his big, brown eyes, and I swear I saw a Maverick truck in there.

My neighbor gave me a whole bag of Peanut M&M's for just trying to jump his truck (bad solenoid though). Love good neighbors. -
I started at Schneider at .19 com (after the forced per diem ### rape). But I did it and have no regrets.
@otterinthewater payed his dues, and now he's just months away from having his own truck.
The point is, there's a road between here and there. Take it. Ride it. Make it look like you're having fun.
As my wife says often, "It's all about fun."
Good luck OP, make the best of it.dunchues, tommymonza, kemosabi49 and 5 others Thank this. -

I've been with Western 6 months, dry van OTR. They're good about keeping me with about 3k/week, I've broken 3600 on good weeks. Raises after 90 days, and training pays well enough if you're interested. Main thing is a good relationship with your DM, run every mile they give you, and always be behind the wheel 10hrs after you stop.
I know flatbed division pays better than dry van and I pull a good 800-1000/week, net with every insurance offered.MericanMade, Wasted Thyme and Chinatown Thank this. -
