I have not made a living wage since I stopped driving a truck fifteen years ago. I've been stuck in an abusive relationship since then and it's soooo hard to get back on my feet. I got married young and had children young. Didn't make it through college, not because I bombed out- I'm super smart. Other reasons I won't go into here. Suffice it to say, I'm 56 years old with no job skills beyond saying, "Would you like fries with that?" and delivering pizzas. To make matters worse, my X filed false assault charges against me. I had no idea. He specifically said I scratched him on his arm with my fingernails and made him bleed. It was a traffic citation class misdemeanor, so they mailed me a ticket (to the wrong address) and when I didn't show up in court I was convicted. As you know, they don't do warrants for that anymore in Texas, you just can't renew your drivers license or car tags until you pay it. So, I didn't find out about it until many months later. This was in 2013 but it's on my record and I can't get an office job (not that they pay anything, either), can't drive a school bus or work around children or the elderly. My options are limited.

I want to go back to driving. I started out over-the-road but my kids were young and their dad sued me for custody. I was forced to drive local, which I did for fourteen years. I understand that since I've been away for so long I'll have to go back through school. I do NOT want to drive solo. I do NOT want to make so little money I might as well be flipping burgers. I do not want to ever drive in the snow. I didn't enjoy that. I do want to drive regional. I'm all business and would not be looking for a teammate who is not. I think I would prefer to drive with an Owner Operator.

    Just looking for advice.

    Thanks.

All of them. But that was many years ago. I only have one old horse now. He's over 30 & if my friend didn't keep him for free I wouldn't have him, either.

The state will pay for private cdl school or you can apply to trucking company cdl schools.
Don't go into details on the conviction; keep it simple. Don't say anything about not supposed to work around elderly, etc. May not even have to list it on applications because it's so old. Applications will ask about convictions "within last 3 yrs." or "within last 5 yrs." etc.
    Try KLLM in Lancaster, Texas.

That's great! Thank you. But I live almost 2 hours from Dallas. I was hoping to school some place where they put me in a motel room for the duration. Do you have any ideas for me?

That would make him the oldest cat in the world then. The oldest just passed at 31.
