I think SmallPackage really needs to tell us where he lives so we can never go there...also why he hasn't moved yet.

Where I live the only wildlife to be concerned with (other than Florida Man jumping on your hood) is Iguanas and they don't bite.

We have the eastern diamondback up here in pa. Rare but still here. Years ago when we had the stone quarry it seems like we would kill 1-2 a year. That's the only place I've encountered them before.

I Fn hate hate hate snakes lol.

Lol same here. When i was 4-5 years old at my baby sitters playing outside had one slither over my leg (not a rattler lol) and it's stuck with me ever since

Found the pic I took last Aug before I shot it. It was around 9:45 -10pm just after dark. I shut down the shop and it was on driveway between shop and house.

Funny. My grandparents had an old house closer to I-10 near were the San Antonio Raceway is now. At night when we were kids you could hear them under the house. They always said that if we were bad they would let them in and feed us to them. They did corn field mazes around there and made everyone volunteer to go check for snakes before they let the kiddies in to run around.

Some areas are full of rattlers. When I worked at a large metro park east of Austin back in the 80’s we saw em all the time. Big ones as big around as your arm. There were lots of things for em to eat out there. Never got bit though.

    you’ll be fine.

    SmallPackage Thanks this.

Ummmm yeah, it isn't volunteering if they are making you do it.:D

I'm thinking that corn field mazes are fun, but not risk my life fun.

You probably will never see one.
Sometimes on a rural road you might see a dead one that cars ran over.

You'll only see a snake in a rural, open area that is sparsely populated. Snakes shy away from noise and such. Same goes for tarantulas.

Except for the vast amount I seen in a Ft. Worth suburb. (Watauga). Just no rattlers around, but plenty of others. Small grass snakes was as common as birds. Bull snakes were not rare either. Heck, had a bull snake come in my house and disappear in the a/c return vent.
