Hi,
What counts as a family emergency? My mom is having back surgery on the 19th and that doesn’t fall on the weekend so I’ll have to take off during the week; does this count?
Best regards, John

What constitutes a family emergency is up to you, not your employer. If you need to be home, tell them to make it happen. If they won't allow it, find a new job.

They hear it all the time from drivers needing off due to 'family emergency' and they tend not to believe it.

My opinion on this will fall close to the middle. Of course, be there it's your mom! You have two weeks of advanced notice. Just communicate this to your company and take the time off. It's the all the sudden situations especially when out that can tend to get under operations skin a bit. Use some common sense and communicate, you should be OK!

Hopefully you’ve already gave them advance notice. But 2 weeks is more than enough time to get you home. But since it’s important make sure you talk to multiple people about it so the whole team knows what’s going on
