I've been a CDL driver since 2013 and in that time, I have a total of 36 months experience. In the last 3 years I have 13 months experience. I've been out of the truck since last September 2019, so that's 11 months of no driving. Due to being caught up in the worlds longest quarantine (Philippines). I finally see a way out of here this coming week and want to get driving again in the Phoenix area.

I see lots of ads on Craigslist, but I'm just wondering if the experience I have is worth anything because I've been out of the truck for 10 months? My last job was with Knight and paid 42 cents per mile pulling reefer. I feel that I need to be making more than that this time around. My record is clean and has several clean roadside inspections on it.

Most of the ads on Craigslist say something to like, "one year of experience in the last three years" or "three years experience in the last five years". I guess it's the insurance companies requirements? Any info would be appreciated.

Stuck in the Philippines; I'm jealous. Had my suitcases packed & ready to head for China, then the virus hit. Been stuck at home in Nevada since then.

I can tell you my experience here in the Philippines has been basically 6 months of just staying in the house working out and playing online poker! Of course it's nice to be the family, but like they say, "trucking gets in your blood". Anyway, if I wait too much longer, more travel restrictions are being imposed in just a few days after I leave here. One is negative PCR test dated within 3 days before the flight and face shields are now becoming all the rage over here and will be required after the 15th for travel on public trans.

I'll most like go back to Knight, as I know the company, yard locations and the customers they deal with. I do think I need more money than 42 cents per mile, but also have a unique situation where I only drive for 5 months or so and then turn the truck in, come back to the Philippines for 4 or 5 months and then do it all over again.

Be prepared to wear masks here also.
Most places won't allow you inside their business unless you're wearing a mask.
Some places even call the police if you don't wear a mask.

The question is which companies will make you go out with a trainer after a certain amount of time out of the truck?

I can vouch for Trillium. I used to work for Trillium in 2012 staffing for Ryder and I did really well there. I got paid on time, home every night, and I always had a full time job time/half after 40.

Trillium Staffing is a great place to start coming back into the trucking world.

I worked for a staffing agency one time; hadn't heard of Trillium at that time.
The trucking companies they sent me to; I was making more money than the company drivers there.
I was told to keep my pay a secret, which I did.
