Most of the systems are not really ready for wide spread usage, My perspective is they are a hazard to me.

Had the collision alert hit the brakes twice last week. Once in a construction zone with nobody in sight in front of me, the other time I was in the center lane passing a driver in the climbing lane while in a gentle left hand curve on I90.

May be regional thing.... my perspective is these systems are dangerous. Just one more reason for me to bale out of the profession soon.

I would estimate the false Lane Departure warnings at around 90% or higher.

How hard does it hit the brakes on false alarms? Like a little bump... Or hang you in the seat belt?

Hard bump..... Like a panic bump then an "OOPS Sorry" return of control to the driver.

So yep enough to put you in the ditch if on ice.....

Orlando, FL – Findings from a new study warn of the potentially dangerous pitfalls associated with the emergence of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

According to the AAA Foundation, a new study found prolonged use of ADAS, like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist, is associated with a 50% increase in the odds of drivers engaging in any form of distracted driving.

The study, conducted by the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, tracked the driving behaviors of a group of drivers who are experienced users of ADAS in their personal vehicle.

Had a Mack put a bruise on my chest. That's how hard they slam on the brakes.
