Buying first new truck

Bought my 2020 389 EXHD last week for 153K, it was part of an order and a few units didn't get picked up, so I got pretty close to the order price. Right place at the right time. It was the fourth dealership I talked to and fortunately the truck was easy to like. You can haggle but you will need to show you're a buyer. I had a down payment, high score, and a company to say where the truck would be put to work. I financed the 53k.

 

You'll have to put like 25% down if not more on a brand new truck, plus good scores, good payment history, and a job reference. Have you tried lone mountain? They are good first round truck buy, low payments, and trucks are used but decent.

You got 25k to put down but lone mountain will only require like 5k down, and you have to show an additional 5k in the bank which you have so that would be my advice for a 1st time buyer.

 

If any used truck sales outfit will not let you take truck to a dimo. test and a full insp. do not buy a used truck from them, a lot of the stuff thats put on trucks now will show up bad on a hard run on dino. just like it will after you buy a uses truck on 1st big pull up a mt. loaded heavy on a truck you buy with out doing the ck. you need to, and you will be paying tow bills and shop bills to fix what should have been found with proper ck. before you buy a used truck?

 

I went to an arrow truck sales, 3/3 failed my inspection, then I left.
The one I actually went to look at... the door didn’t fit up right and the striker almost fell off, looked like a “Repo” truck, quarter window had broken and redone without latch.
Guy pointed to a 17 Pete, Checked it all out, around 100 degrees outside, then started and went on a drive, 1 mile later took it back, AC didn’t work.
3rd was an no when I seen supersingle recaps.

Then I went to a Freightliner dealer, at least They’ll take the caps, replace with tires, and give credit for the caps(knowing They’ll use them again.)

All I had to put down was $2500 on a 16 model, could’ve put more or bought it, but I want to hang on to cash since we don’t know what’s going to happen with the sickness.
