Hello veterans of this industry. I have my cdl class A from 2 years now. But I never used it, because i had my own business in Ground transportation. I closed my business due to covid 19 outbreak. Now I'm trying to get a job as a truck driver. I don't have experience, because at the trucking school they just teach you how to pass the exam only. Which is, 1) Straight back, 2) parallel parking, 3) Offset to the left, 4) shifting for the road test. Never learned more than that. All the companies i contacted require minimal 2 years experience. And honestly, myself even if i find a company willing to hire me with no experience, I wouldn't start driving without know how to drive and back into ducks. I'm a responsible person. I don't want to hurt myself and others, or cause damages to a warehouse. What you experience truck drivers suggest i do? Should I sign up with some of this big carrier such as Swift or Schneider? Even if the pay is not huge ,but at least will they train me well? I really want to learn. I know money will come with experience, but for now i really want to learn. Please advise me
Thank you all,and be safe and healthy.

@Chinatown
I’d say Schneider over Swifty, Schneider used to take you with cdl and no experience, they’d train you the Schneider Ways.AfterShock and jc3737 Thank this. -
Yeah, sign up with one of the big companies like Abilene.

I'd say go with Werner or Schneider. As long as you pull your weight at Schneider they will treat you right. Schneider also has a good O/O board, (NOT LEASE PURCHASE) so if you get some experience, 2 years later you want to become an O/O Schneider would be a good starting point.
