Hi Everyone, Does anyone drop their hand jack back wheel off when you are doing a delivery and is their any safety concern when doing this? As the company I work for are trying to fire me as I have done this on certain delivery?

I do it when needed, but not happy when I have to do so and take it excessively slow to not lose/damage the freight or hurt myself...

What happened to get you on safety's radar for this?

Firing you over just that seems a bit excessive as long as you aren’t damaging anything, hurting anyone, or continuing to do it after they told you not to.

It scared the customer even though they were in no danger as they were far away. I have to do one some deliveries.

Yes they never told me not to do this. I have asked other drivers and they all do it as well.

What are you doing? On a delivery with no dock, if you were lucky enough to have a pallet jack, I'd bring it to the back, turn it around, and drop it on the tail. Where are you "dropping" the wheel off of?

Okay, yeah, I wouldn't do that either. I'd put the whole pallet sideways on the tailgate, and if it was too tall, I'd take some off. I'd be worried that wheel would catch under the lift gate. I know, I sound like a boss, but I did a LOT of tailgate delivery, and that's how I did it. HAND UNLOAD??? GET YOUR MAMA TO HAND UNLOAD,,,,kidding, I did a LOT of that too,,

I’ve done that, but I don’t like it.

I only save that manuever for things to big to spin inside the trailer.
