I try to make myself think how good of a racket I have. I take off 1 week a month, and 3 weeks vacation a year for a total of 15 weeks off a year. Based on just the 1 week a month, I’m paid for working 40 weeks out of the year. Then if you take off the 3 weeks vacation, I’m actually working 37 weeks a year. In my little world, that’s good for me.

Picked up a load out of Mt Jackson,Va heading to Loveland,Co.
Load has way to much time on it,was promised layover, never had to put it in before, can anybody tell me the steps to take,I would appreciate it. -
Your DM is the one who approves or denies it, so if he's the one who told you to put in for layover, that should be all you need.Finfn1372 Thanks this. -
I have outsmarted myself.
Here at a Lumber Liquidators in Mobile, AL. After we'd been in the dock for an hour and had felt the truck shake several times, I went ahead and put in my end trip macro so as to get a head start on getting a new load assignment. Figured it'd take 'em another 30 minutes to unload me, and I figured it'd take dispatch 30 minutes or so to get me another load.
Welp, here it is, two hours later, and they've still got 1/3/rd of the trailer left to unload. They got swamped with customers and have not even touched my trailer in almost an hour.
But now I can't put in for detention because I've already sent in the end trip. Oops.
I do have a load assignment, though. So that part worked out alright. A deadhead assignment to drop an empty at the Target DC in Savannah. So I'm not too fussed about missing an appointment. Load assignment says to have it in Savannah by 8:00pm tonight, but that wasn't going to happen regardless of whether or not these dudes unloaded me early or late because Savannah's 9 hours away and I only had 8 hours of drive time left. And that was before they started eating into my 14.MACK E-6, MidWest_MacDaddy, jarhead0311 and 2 others Thank this. -
Little by little our world is changing. One of our drivers going from Reno to West Jefferson Ohio with this outstanding color combination.

Are you seeing any changes in daily operation at Abilene? I guess have more empty trailers to select from is never a bad thing

This is my daughter's last week in the truck. We go home for hometime this coming Friday. We'll be picking up her brother for the weekend, then I'll have them both back home with their mom the following Monday.
Current route is taking me from the Target DC in Savannah to the Target DC in Columbus. Route goes past the Petro in Columbia, SC. So we stopped early and went bowling.
Boy I am terrible at bowling. Neither one of us cracked 100. I won one round, she won the other. Had a good time, though, and gave her another memory of the summer.
Nine hours from here to the receiver. Gotta be there by 4:00pm. Gonna hafta get up a little earlier than usual to give myself a comfortable buffer for on-time delivery. Totally worth it tho.gntorres61, Redtwin, Lonesome and 3 others Thank this. -
