Hiring Driver(s)

    I know some of you run multiple trucks so I’d like some advise.

    Im in a situation whereby I am stacked with work and it’s a long term deal. Currently Im sub’ng out multiple loads and leaving a whole bunch of coin on the table.

    Lots of rigs for sale right now and I have some cash so Ive thinking to pull the trigger, but and the big BUT, where how to locate driver(s)? I need someone that can load full 7/8/9 unit MIXED loads Cars, SUV’s, Trucks. I cant babysit or train, they need to know what they’re doing and do so without tearing up vehicles and or equipment.

    Any advise would be much appreciated.

    You need hire drivers with few years of experience in car hauling. You gone to have to pay for the experience. The question is if you can find enough cars to move to cover the cost and profit

    Are you a businessman or a really good owner operator? I am an independent like you and have added trucks only to quickly realize I was an owner operator not a businessman. It takes a lot of something i don't have to deal with drivers especially when you own the equipment and value your customers. The overwhelming majority of drivers are just looking for sundown and payday and do not care if you make a dime on your investment. They won't take a second of extra time to do things the way you ask them to do things. I had much better luck with leasing on 2 owner operators than ever with a company driver. They were also a pain in the ### to deal with because they knew better how to do everything little thing. But they were easy to cut loose. 1 truck is best for me. Go home, turn off phone , no worries! Less money but far less stress.

    I thought he said somewhere that he was from Texas or Arizona. I could be confusing him with someone else though.
    What is going on with Ready? I heard someone trashing them when I was at Manheim Detroit a couple weeks back but I missed the beginning of the conversation.

    If you believe it’s long term and profitable. Buy another truck. I have new ones on the way and am selling a 2018 high rail Pete with the Cummins x15 performance under 190,000 miles. $225,000

    It’s definitely long term profit. Moving an avg of 30 units a week into Colorado out of Dallas and another 10 or so into SE TX. Buying another truck is the easy part, getting someone’s butt in the seat seems to be a massive issue. At least someone that knows how not to tear something up I should say.
