Detroit S60 12.7 injector advice

I am changing out O rings on the injectors on S60 12.7 pre EGR. Do i need to install a small carbon washer on the tip of the injector? It came with the kit but i did not see a single one on mine when i pulled them out.

They deteriorate in a few thousand miles. If you have them, put them in but it's more important that you put the fat o-ring in.

They use them to take up any minor damage to the cups. You can sometimes see a small amount of damage on the cups, sometimes a full or half circle, from the injector pounding it.
